Suspended in atmosphere
Like a water-filled giant holding his breath
Like a pelican holding water in his beak
The clouds are burnt marshmallows
Your stomach growls
The sky lights up then goes dark again
Our city is grey.
The giant heaves a sigh
The pelican yawns
Soda water falls in spools
forming sticky thread
Connecting the ozone to the concrete
Water crashes around
two girls in white
They join the others
Many run and duck
Others are birds
Spreading their wings
To accept soaking of feathers
and fingertips.
